Advertisers still with Glenn Beck
I only recently learned that Glenn Beck is not as much of a money maker for Fox as one might think. Apparently, most advertisers refuse to have their commercials run during Beck's show. It's only fifteen, believe it or not. They even have a name for a show like this-- Empty Calories. It's not too imaginative or clever but it makes its prosaic point about the kind of tinderboxes Fox involves itself with. I was also somewhat heartened to learn that Beck's ratings have dropped this year. He's still got a lot of viewers, but he was at something like 2.8 million a night and now he's maybe 2.3 million. It's still troubling that that many people continue to watch him but it's reassuring to know that some people-- a lot, actually-- reject him after some time.
